I never wanted to be an animator... I was going to be a Marine Biologist. Yeah, I had enjoyed doodling and drawing from an early age, but I had only ever saw it as a hobby. It wasn't until I partnered up to make a short video for my high school health class that I realized, "marine biology is a dying field." Or at least it was dead to me after I fell in love with filmmaking.
How I chose animation specifically was easy for me. I loved to watch it. Always had. And I carried an extreme appreciation for the amount of skill and effort that went into making thousands of drawing that turned out to be only seconds of film. It sounded crazy!!! And I couldn't see myself doing anything else! So I set off to be educated.
I am currently finishing my senior year at Columbia College Chicago seeking my Bachelors in Traditional Animation. I have been mentored by many, very talented, instructors such as Luis Contreras, Jon McClenahan, and Joe Meredith. My collaborative senior film "Into the Fray" shows my best efforts and accumulated abilities thus far. It will premier at Columbia College's 1104 Film Building in December. | |
